The Lordship of the Isles

Petition for Gaelic

Gaelic is the traditional language of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, at one time the whole of Scotland, with sixty thousand native speakers and a large community of expatriates learning the language across the world, mostly in former British colonies such as America and Canada, where their ancestors were exiled to after Britain, a state an ethnic Gael had founded, defeated the Jacobite forces at Culloden.

Gaelic supposedly originated in the Caucasus as part of the Proto-Indo-European group of languages, which includes almost all languages in western Europe today. It from there reached Ireland, probably via Spain, and then arrived in Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Although Gaelic-medium education and the interest of the expatriate Gaelic community, which numbers millions, has helped the language, popular culture and immeasurable arrogance, as demonstrated on many forums I have mentioned this petition on, as well as blatant lies (such as the myth of the English conquest), have uprooted it from even its traditional homeland.

Welcome to my petition about the use of Gaelic language and culture in modern society. Any people who do not think that either should be promoted are quite welcome to say so, of course. I do not believe in suppressing opinions - that is why this petition has been made.
